Cornate d'Adda, April 2008 - Compel Electronics S.p.A. has extended its catalogue to include new products, developing a new series of Balun Panels to make the connection of systems with different impedance possible.
The best way of transmitting a signal is to transport it with uniform impedance, every variation can lead to high reflection values and loss of signal.
In modern equipment the need to connect systems with an impedance of 75 ohm with systems with an impedance of 120 ohm often arises (typical when using twisted pair cables used when high density connections are necessary with small size cables).
The need has therefore arisen for a device which combines the two systems in such a way that each one sees its own impedance and the possibility of substantial signal losses are eliminated.
The Balun Panels manufactured by Compel meet these requirements, guaranteeing matching between the systems with different impedance.
75 ohm side: the Balun Panels are fitted with female connectors of the 1.0/2.3 series.
120 ohm side: an RJ45 connector is used.
DIMENSIONAL FEATURES :
The Balun Panels are available for:
19” metal frames with dimensions from 1U to 3U
21” metal frames with dimensions from 1U to 3U (can be adjusted using small brackets)
metal frames for cabinets in Distribution Substations (Distribution support strips)
ELECTRICAL FEATURES:
unbalanced 75 ohm / balanced 120 ohm
operating frequency : 0,05÷3 MHz
Return loss according to CCITT G703
Balanced 120 ohm signal according to ETS 300166
DESIGN CONSTRAINTS:
The printed circuits have been conceived with controlled impedance lines, optimising the route of the connections in order to avoid Misalignments and Cross-talk.
Types of distribution: Y-connection, point to point connection, passive derivations, adaptations of 75/120 ohm uncoupled and adapted with monitoring point.
COMPEL IS HAPPY TO DEVELOP CUSTOM PRODUCTS ACCORDING TO CUSTOMER REQUIREMENTS.
