Compel Electronics presents its
new family of multi-ways coaxial connectors
Achieved new horizons for one of the most popular series of coaxial connectors, thanks to the addition of several multi-ways versions which offer the easy integration of their usage together with space optimisation and quick installation.
Compel Electronics SpA, a Company internationally recognised as a leader in the design and manufacture of interconnection systems and cable assemblies, announces its new family of multi-ways coaxial connectors which wants to be the answer to the continuous request of miniaturisation in recent telecommunication equipment. These products fit in nicely in the 1.0/2.3 coaxial connector family. The most popular types are the 2, 3 and 4-way blocks, nowadays widely used, and the new 8-way connector which has forced Compel Electronics into a brand new design approach both to the 1.0/2.3 female and to the male mating interface with the well known push-pull device. In this new version the pitch between the connectors has been reduced to the absolute minimum : the connectors have now a 6.5mm pitch sideways and a slightly larger one in height to allow the use of its dedicated extraction tool. This tool is indispensable with this type of interface which houses a high number of cables in a very restricted space where mating and un-mating becomes very awkward. The 8-way connector has been conceived without any solder joint : all signal and ground pins have been manufactured using the press-fit technique in order to avoid any problem which might arise when trying to solder such a big metal mass. Consequently, the male connector has undergone a revolutionary design : although maintaining the interface dimensions, foreseen by the International Norms, the outside dimension has been reduced from the standard 8mm to 6.2mm nevertheless offering the advantage of the push-pull coupling device. Hence, the traditional male connector and the new one are perfectly interchangeable with the existing female connectors and, with the current request for miniaturisation in mind, can be used with recently developed small diameter, low loss halogen free coaxial cables.
